What do ya'll think about pulling carpet out of living and dining room. Laminante or vinyl?

We did it on our DP because we were full time with three dogs and the carpet didn't have a chance.

We went with Allure vinyl but if I had it to do over I would probably go with laminate in some sort of wood grain. The Allure was intended to be a temporary surface for us and was easy to do while traveling since I didn't have any fancy tools. I did the entire job with a pair of good shears.

In both a 21' class C and a 36' class A we put in a slate tile pattern laminate. we used a quality felt underlayment that helped deadened sound and then let the laminate float as intended. we trimmed out the edges with a matching quarter round moulding. Keep in mind that there are usually extreme temperture swings in a Rv, esp in the summer months between use and storage. Laminate will expand and contract during these extremes and needs to have room to do so. If you fasten permanent(glue or nail) it will not be able to move and will buckle or pull apart. You would find that a quality laminate will wear well and is easy to care for.

Glue down laminate works great in a coach. Small gaps for expansion difference between Las Vegas heat and Canada winter

We put carpeting in to keep heat/cold in/out and to quiet the coach. Hard floors/laminate can be slippery.

We made the change to vinyl and this is very true. I don't think we've noticed a difference in noise levels but on cold mornings the floor is cold. We use area rugs which help but it is a trade-off.

We used Allure earlier this year and so far very happy. Hell, tar paper is better than carpet

Haven't had any cold feet yet, but I did lay it over 1/8 foam. Will know more when we head to Fl in December. Besides, wearing slippers is better than hauling a vacuum cleaner, carpet shampoo machine, hand vac, etc. Also allows room for 3 more cases of wine

I don't like the beige carpet in mine as it show the dirt more than a darker color, but from what I have read, it is a PIA to replace it.

We used Alterna vinyl tile which is the luxury vinyl product from Armstrong. We didn't want to use laminate because of water concerns in our kitchen. The basement in our MH is heated and we don't notice that the floor is particularly cold in the morning. In fact it is much warmer than the ceramic tile we still have in the bathroom and dressing areas.

It sure isn't a snap, but well worth it in the end. I did mine during a full interior redux, so it took a while but was working on many things at once.
