Tiffin Dealer in Houston.....Experiences?

I am looking to upgrade my Thor Hurricane to a Tiffin Phaeton in the next 6 months. I will be living in the Houston, Tx area, and see the Tiffin dealer is
DeMontron......has anyone had any buying experience with them?

Thanks

We looked at a Thor unit there a couple of years ago - we didn't buy from them mainly because we went with a different brand. So no - didn't buy but I we did walk away with a neutral experience.

Since you have 6 months I recommend driving north 3 hours-isa and go check out MHSRV. I don't know if they carry the Tiffin's but if they do, there is a very good chance that they have more than one for you to look at and ask many questions. You will also get to see the competition to be sure you are making the right choice. An unbelievable place to visit. My wife says if you don't find what you are looking for there, you don't need a Motorhome.

Motor Home Specialists in Alvarado is not a Tiffin dealer. They just recently acquired the Fleetwood line with the closing of Ancira. They primarily carry FW, Thor, Forest River and a few others. They are a very large, high volume dealer. Another 30 miles north of Alvarado is Vogt RV in Fort Worth that is a Tiffin dealer. We purchased from Vogt and had positive experiences with both the sales and service.

I would suggest a couple of things - first off, join the Tiffin RV Network. You will have to register, but you will have access to thousands of Tiffin owners and lots of comments on Tiffin dealers.

Second, when you get ready to purchase, put together an e-mail with every single option you want and send an RFQ to both your local dealers and to Sherman RV in Sherman, MS, Davis Motorhomes in Memphis, and Martin Ingram in Montgomery, AL. The last three dealers will likely save you thousands of dollars over the others you might contact.

+1 on joining the Tiffin RV Forum, tons of information and there is one specific thread about Tiffin dealers that I believe you will find extremely helpful. Good luck!

Andy at Sherman RV in Ms. was awesome, best price by far and 100% hassle free purchase

As a former Houston area resident, our dealing with Demontrond was a joke, an absolute caricature of how NOT to sell. We ended up buying 3 year old Allegro Bus directly from a Houston owner. The Bus originated thru Demontrond and he swore he would never go near them again. Apparently the shop was as incompetent as the sales organization. I never went near them again after our initial sales experience. I have had this conversation in the past with Bob Tiffin at both a rally and a trade show in Houston.
You can buy thru any Tiffin dealership, anywhere. Go to Red Bay, tour the plant. Look at what they have parked on the ramp, pick your options, and find the best deal out there. You will generally get your service on the road, don't rely on Demontrond to get it done for you. Houston has a cummins Oasis facility, Freightliner (not RV oriented) facility, and at least one very good mobile service business that does good work on chassis and Genset service.

Certainly. Robert Mathews. RV Mobile Lube. (713)-859-0859.

He has done excellent work for me, but we moved to CenTex and have not been able to use him since June 2014.

Try www.rvmobilelube.com.

Thanks for the info.l..lm just not finding anything good to hear about Demontrod ........anywhere. I want to trade my Hurricane rather than sell it outright, don't want the hassle. As far as service goes, I guess getting it on the road will work. But I was concerned if Tiffin has authorized service places other than their dealers. Also, I know some RV places sort of put you in the back of the line for service if you did not buy from them!..
Cheers
