The inverter I have, that came in the coach, is a 100W output. The flat screen TV/DVD player I just installed is 100W. The current inverter is 5x3x12 (WXHXD).

I know I don't need a pure sine wave, I do need a built in transfer switch, I have been seen this one Xantrex RS400 Sine Wave Inverter - 55-1868 and I am not sure what my other options are. This RS400 is a little big in size, has a pure sine wave and is a bit more than I want to spend.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I found this one also, it is physically a bit big Xantrex XM1000 Pro Series Inverter
the wattage is quite a bit higher too, but the price is quite a bit less.

James, this has nothing to due with your post. Your post was the first I saw, trying to figure out how to ask a question and can not seem to find the right area. Have not heard back from admin. Sorry to waste your time, but if you could help I would appreciate. Thank you

Why do you need an automatic transfer switch? It really drives the price of the inverter way up, as you have seen. A 300-400 watt inverter would supply all your power needs and cost less than $40. You can run the tv from the inverter all the time - when you have shore power the RVs charging system will supply plenty of 12v to run the inverter. Or if you felt you had to, you could switch the tv from the inverter outlet to a non-inverter outlet as needed.

But if you must have the built in transfer switch, the RS 400 is as good as it gets.

There are 4 ways to do the transfer switch thing, I will cover all 4

Automatic,built into the inverter.

Normally this means the inverter is also a converter. IF shore power is present it converts and charges the batteries, passing power to the load (Television) If shore power fails, it switches to inverter mode and transfers the loads to itself, Example Xantrex Prosine 2.0

External ATS: effectively works the same as above, Usually shore power is fed to the GENERATOR in on a standard 30 amp ATS, and inverter power to the SHORE leads,, that way shore takes priority.

MANUAL transfer switch. about 50 bucks at an electrical supply house

This is a 3 position switch (ON-1 off ON-2) that can not be switched from ON to ON,, (You switch from on to off, then from off to on) It is hard to expalain but though it looks like a straight toggle (in my case) I have to press the handle twice to switch over.

NOTE: a standard on/off/on will work too,, my house has those.

DO NOT USE an electronics store switch (IE: Radio shack) they are not really designed for the job.

You hook shore power to one end, inverter to the other end, and the televison,, that hooks up to the middle screws.

Final method is the "Poor man's transfer"

Two outlets,,, One the common color of outlets in your motor home (This is shore power) one red or orange (Inverter power) and move the plug from one to the other. Cost is in the Under 20 dollar range, in fact should be in the under 10 dollar range

I guess I don't need an auto transfer switch. This is just what was in the coach. The only thing I would have to do is make sure the plug for the TV can reach the front of the console, right now it is plugged in the back of the inverter (which is the back of the console). An extension cord is cheaper than an inverter with a transfer switch built in.

I have a 2005 Vectra with a Dimensions Inverter, 2000 Watt and it works great for my 32in Flat screen, plus sattelite receiver, digital recorder and special sound system operating at the same time. I have a used once unit for $750 in the advertising section of iRV2. I would be happy to give you a complete rundown on its operation. I have 4 --6V batteries and we have operated the TV for 6 hours continuously. Larry
