Time of the year to order a custom build

I am thinking of ordering a 2017 Winnebago Adventurer 35P so we can get just the colors and options we want. Is there any reason not to order one now, in the fall, for delivery 3-4 months out? We can get a really good deal on the price from LaMesa RV.

Only if you can be assured that production and delivery are after snow season, so the coach is not delivered on salted roads.

You may also want to see if they will still be making the 2017's four months out. Some brands have already committed their production of 2017's and you may be looking at an '18 instead.

I never thought of that, but great question to ask before I sell my existing MotorHome. We don't want to be without one for a year!

The coach will get scheduled for more-or-less immediate build when the dealer places the order with the factory, so the choice is to build it when you sign the contract (dealer stores it) or defer the contract until you want it built and delivered to the dealer lot.

Factory lead times are usually short during the winter season, so inquire about that. Lead times are typically 6-8 weeks in the spring and summer, but may be much shorter during the off-season. And as wnytaxman says, production specs and models may change in the future (and without notice - that will be in the fine print of the contract). I'd be pretty confident that 2017's are still being built up thru April of 2017, but the available models and the specs/layout may change. The changes may be for the better, of course, but sometimes the features that get dropped or altered are the very ones that you find attractive in the first place.
