Well, its good to see others sweating the tire decision because misery loves company. I just bit the bullet and replaced mine. In all honesty, I would have waited another year or so but we plan a major trip this summer. As one can see from my sig, my MH is a 2006 and even though I caught a 2004 tire on it when we bought at Lazy Days in March, 2006 and made them replace it with a fresh tire, I missed the date on several because they weren't visible on the duals. I had tires dated 2006, 2005 and 2004 and they all had good tread at 41,000 miles and no visible cracks. Nonetheless, because we'll be in remote areas later this summer, I went shopping.
I fully intended to replace the Michelins that came on the unit with Toyo because of expected price and good luck with them in the past. Tire sizes were 255/80R 22.5 (Michelin) and 265/75R 22.5 (Toyo) and the local Toyo dealers are not commercial tire dealers and were not interested in my purchase --said they didn't handle that size tires. The nearest commercial dealer is 70 miles away (Jacksonville) and I got prices there. I also got prices from two local Michelin truck tire dealers.
Surprise. The Toyos in Jacksonville were quoted at a slightly higher price than the Michelins. To shorten the story, I bought six 1211 dated Michelins for $391 each plus excise tax of around $25 each. The price was described as a Monaco Coach special but I have no further info on that but my MH is a Winny Journey. Mounting and balancing raised that and I added further to the cost by getting other things (alignment, windshield wipers, special long valve stems for the duals, etc.), but these were my choices.
The dealer was Town Tire Commercial Center, Gainesville, FL.
