Tire ?

Replacing my front tires. All my tires are Goodyear G647 RSS 8R19.5
They are rated as extremly fast tread wear. What is that for?
Can I replace with a different one
Thanks
Rich

Not sure what you mean by "rated for very fast tread wear". Can you expand?

Rick

Most, if not all, RV tires are replaced because of age and cracks not wear. I would not worry about a "faster wearing" tire. However, I would not buy inexpensive tires either...

It is a comparison rating. Tires are a compromise, always have been. You trade off some qualities for others. Longer wearing tires typically have less grip. Better gripping tires wear out faster. Quiet and smooth highway tires don't have the same performance in mud or snow as an open block tread design. For ALL of my vehicles, I choose grip over longer wear. I might replace them a little sooner, but I stay on the road and don't bump into other vehicles. It saves me money by keeping my deductible in my wallet and my insurance rates down.

Sure you can change to a different brand or model. Just make sue the size and load capacity are the same.

Thanks all
It is a softer tire and wears faster but it has more grip in rain, mud and snow.

You brought back a good memory.. .. Coworker bragging about all his experience driving on snow, Well he put on quite a show when he pulled out of the lot, up hill with his summer dry pavement tires on his land yatch (Lincoln).

I had Kelly Navigator 800's on my Small Dodge station wagon.. Straight up the hill I went, just liike the girls with Front Wheel Drive.

Suffice to say we look at the same thing when buying tires
