Tire covers - use or not to use

I was a school bus mechanic for 20 years and we had to take tires off in 10 years. I don't ever remember taking a tire off sooner because of cracking. I do not use covers.

Why bother with them? The object is UV protection of the tires. Periodic spraying of the tires and rubber seals of the slides with 303 accomplishes the same thing and you don't have the covers taking up room in your storage.

X2. I use 303 approx quarterly. My steer tires are crack prone Michelin. They are nearing the 7 year mark and look perfect.

We used them if we are going to be sitting in the sun for over a week....tires are expensive
