Yup - and in order to get 100% nitrogen you would need to evacuate ALL the air out of the tire before filling it - and if you try that you'll probably unseat the bead...

The same advantage would probably be obtained by using any compressor, then running through a refrigerated air dryer. And seriously, in my meticulously designed, streamlined, balanced and blueprinted, high performance, state of the art motor home, I would challenge anyone to actually experience (or be able to measure) any performance increase by using 100% nitrogen, dry or otherwise . . .
That's it exactly, plus there's the pitch that there's no oxygen to react with the rubber inside the tire - 100% nitrogen being inert. Another case of something being technically correct, but has no real effect on the life or performance of the product it's used in.

Shhhhh, that's the dirty little secret the N2 folks don't want to get out.

Thanks Ray-- Another learning moment "Why N2 instead of N?" -- Had to look it up..

"Nitrogen atoms don’t like to be alone. In the natural state they pair off, sharing three electrons to fill their outer shells, so the nitrogen in the air consists of the N2 molecule. They like each others’ company so much that N2 is sulkily reluctant to react with anything else. The chemical symbol for nitrogen, however, is N, not N2, and so-called “free nitrogen” (N) is much more reactive".
