Has anyone priced new 295/80/22.5 tires, load range H recently? What prices did you get?

I bought 8 yesterday for my MH.. I can't give the price because they were purchased through the fleet pricing via the Monaco International RV Club but if you own a Monaco or one that is under their control then you can join and get the same pricing...

We put 6 on last month. Complete out the door $3100.00. Scrap, mount, balance, tax and all. This was for Continental "H" rated. Alllentown, Pa. at a truck service center, not a truck tire only center. (not one date code over 7 months)

Staggering! I got prices ranging from $550 to $780 each, mounted and balanced. Plus sales tax.

I substituted 11R22.5's on the rear wheels - plenty of load capacity for a 20k axle and the dimensions are all but identical. 11R22.5 is a popular truck tire, so there is price competition and lots of brands available. I chose Continentals HSR2 at $460 each, plus tax.

I recently replaced 6 tires (245/70R/22.5) for $2475.00 out the door including computer balance, new stems, tax, everything. They are Sumitomo tires and handle really well. I will see how long they last.

Another vote for Sumitomo's. Same size & deal for $2,226.00. Truck tire dealer in Winter Garden Fl. Great ride & at these prices I can now afford to replace them in 5 to 7 years. Hope they last that long too.

I just returned for a Michelin Dealer with a quote - $3154.98 out the door.
I am trying to replace the GY 670 RV's with someting a little softer, but the Michelin XRV is not available in my size, 275/70-22.5. This quote was for their XZE 2+ rated at Load Range J. That sounds pretty stiff to me. I'm still looking.

Anyone have experience with the Continental HSR-1.

Continental makes an excellent tire, but I doubt if it is any softer ride than GY or Michelin. The best way to soften the ride is to get a tire with a larger load capacity, so it can be run with lower air pressure. That lets the tire flex more and absorb the bumps better.

On 4/29/11 we did some tire shopping at our local(San Antonio) Sam's Club & Costco. This time we're purchasing 8 tires for a 2000 Signature. Its heaviest loaded axle is the steer, 13K #s.

I found that both have good prices, but availability is limited. Also, neither company mounts, balances, or installs 22.5 tires. Costco sells Michelin, Bridgestone/Firestone. Sam's Club sells Michelin, Goodyear/Dunlop.

We ended up buying from Sam's Club 8 Dunlop all position SP160 H rated 11R-22.5s. They both call a warehouse for availability. Sam's Club special orders them after you hand over your $$$.

We had a mobile truck tire service mount and spin balance the new tires on the coach in exchange for our old tires.

The Dunlops in my previous post had DOT dates less than 2 mths old.

In late March, we bought 6 Sumitomo model ST778, H rated (16ply) 11R-22.5s for our 02 Monaco Signature 45' Empress. It needed drive and tag axle tires. The out the door cost for the six was $2400. This included $300 for mounting and spin balancing. Had I known then what I know now I could have traded the old tires for free mounting and balancing. The Sumitomo DOT dates were 6 mths old.

I just replaced all 6 of my XRV 235 80 22.5 with Aurora 255 70 22.5. Out the door price was $1,978 Tires were almost exact diameter and very slighty wider. these tires are rated at 5500# @ 125 PSI I am running them at 100 PSI and I can't believe it but they ride just as well as the XRV's if not better. I know these are truck tires and not RV But they ride well have a better load rateing and I'm happy..And the DW likes the price...

Lonestarace: Sorry for getting in on this late. I wonder what size tires you had originally. That Sumitomo in an 11R size is not enough tire for a 45 ft. tag axle mh. Did you check your weights?? What pressures are you running?

Sure it is. The drive axle won't be carrying more than 20,000 lbs and the tag is probably under 10,000. An 11R22.5 can handle that easily with about 100-105 psi - it's no more than 5000 lb/tire.

I'm running Continental 11R22.5's on the back of my coach too, replacing 295/80's. The 11R is not quite enough capacity for the front (13k lbs), but plenty for the rear axle which is right at 20k lbs.
