Tire replacement
What michelin tire is providing the best ride and handling characteristics.
Forget about mileage just want 5 yrs of good handling.
Are the RV tires a gimmick.
I need to buy 8. Help me decide and get FMCA discount

Hello, What size tire are you looking to buy? Michelin's are expensive but for they are worth thier reputation. All your top of the line coach's and auto's come from the factory with them. 3 years ago I put new XZA2'S ON my coach and love them.

I just bought Newmar Mountain Air and it has steer tires all the way around. Is that normal?

Last set Michlins I bought for a DP had serious side wall cracks in three years. They were kept at 100 lbs and used about 12000 miles per year. Covered when parked. Very overpriced and overrated. Never again.

Costco met the FMCA price on Michelins easily when I bought tires last year. They have an annual Michelin sale and I took advantage of it and was happy with my deal.
I have 235/80/22.5's XRV's, had my first set ten years smooth as a babies cheek when I replaced them. Can't comment on ride except mine ride fine but I've never had anything else and they have been so trouble free and durable that I have no reason to switch.

Are you sure they are steer only or all position?

The tires are 295.80.22.5
Is anyone using the I think 315 on the steer on the 8.25 rim?
I see from the mfg plate that the steer axle weight of this tire is about 15500lb which is fairly well up there
I was concerned about putting the larger tire on and getting less responsive steering

I looked at non RV tires in the Michelin line and other lines the past 11 months.
Talking to Michelin, the XRV tires are specifically designed for RV use, which includes lots of sitting and sun. In addition, the XRV is the only Michelin tire that has increased ozone resistance which should provide longer weathering resistance as well. Truck tires are not designed to sit as much as RV tires do so I think there may be issues related to buying truck tires that are not designed for RV use.
Despite Michelin's warranty no longer covers checking and cracking, I finally did decide after pricing every name brand in the universe that I will buy the XRV Michelin in my Load Range, which is F, or 12 ply rating.
Also, I am able to report the FMCA/Michelin program saved me about 70.00 each best pricing I found was around 420 each, FMAC/Michelin was 352 each).
Had I not had the FMCA/Micheline pricing, I probably would have went with the Sumitomos at around 300 each. I've heard lots of good reports about the Sumis, but they are not specifically designed for RV applications, which is not a problem as long as they get exercised often, covered, and separated from long term concrete storage. Oh, not to mention, proper alignment, balance, pressure, etc. etc. etc. which is of course, for all tires.......

I know you asked about Michellins, but I just gave up on GoodYears (G670's) and went with Hankook's on my coach. There is a topic currently running with all the people talking about their complete satisfaction with the Hankook's. They ride and handle as well as the Michellins and the GoodYears at about a third less per tire.
