Tire Rotation

I have read a lot about tires on this forum, however I have not heard anything about rotating tires. Is this because they dry rot first or just
replaced after so many years. Do they need to be rotated

I don't think many folks routinely rotate tires on big rigs. Not sure why but that's the perception I have after reading many posts. I'm guessing it's because RV tires are usually replaced due to age and not because of uneven tread wear.

Michelin and I think most others do not recommend tire rotation unless there was an issue that caused uneven tire wear and rotation would beneficial to help such situation.

I have never rotated tires on MH and not plan to do so unless needed as commented above.

THe only time I have seen a rotation reccomendation was to just rotate across sides. Meaning exchange the duals side to side in pairs and across for the fronts. The wear on the duals need to be kept together as they are the same diameter. I understand they have changed that reccomendation to no rotation as any advantage is minimal.

My thinking would be if you didn't break the front tires down and turn them around on the wheel you would not gain anything by rotating side to side. On our OTR trucks we would sometimes break them down and turn them around if we saw an uneven wear pattern starting. It would extend the mileage somewhat. I don't know that the expense was justified, but it looked good.
