Our tire guy told us he couldn't get 295 80R 22.5's from any of his 4 suppliers. He said we should go to 295 75R 22.5's. We have a 2003 Winnebago Ultimate Advantage with a Spartan chassis. Any thoughts

First thought....ride will suffer with the lower profile tires. Weight carry capacity may not be sufficient. Unless it's an emergency the tires are out there. Have you tried the FMCA michelin plan??

Michelin Advantage through FMCA shows your requested tire size available. Might want to talk to a few other tire places. Not fully knowing your relationship with your tire guy, but sounds like he might be wanting to sell something he has and not order in what you want IMO.

We are in a small town. The tires come out of Salt Lake City, Utah but for some reason none of his suppliers have that size. We will wait & get the right size.

I needed 305/70's for the front of our rig. Michelin was the only one that made them even though Continental listed them in their catalog. There were none in the US so I had to wait a few weeks. They were only a couple weeks old when the dealer got them.

I like to keep on the coach what size came on the coach. I'd either go to a different dealer or order what you want from your dealer and wait for them.

If you have a Costco nearby, they are also selling the large Michelin 22.5" tires at a great price.

Don't forget to check the birth date of each tire
and their weight capacity.

You might want to consider doing more research for using a common size. I mean what do you do when calling for a quick replacement in the middle of death valley? At least be sure to have a spare on board and would recommend that anyway to deter total ripoffs, while attempting to match what you have as well. I don't like buying a tire twice either, like one to get you going and another, once you arrive!

I do not carry a spare tire. I do not want the extra weight, I do not want an expensive tire to dry rot in storage. I will not wrestle a big heavy tire or even attempt to change one on my rig and is why I have Emergency Road Service. You get what what you pay for. Quality RV tires today last more than 7 years and do not fail unless you have your eyes closed and ride over road debris.
Trailer tires are smaller than RV, run hotter, less expensive, and having a spare is not impractical.

To each his own, but the tire itself (not the wheel) doesn't weigh all that much. Also not suggesting that you do the changing. Not suggesting an expensive tire either, just something to get one into the next town for evaluation, warranty purposes or just finding a good deal, while parked in the dealer's lot. You'll need to be carrying the old tire as well if there are any issues to be resolved, so it goes wherever the spare was stored.
As for ERS, that's where the problem usually begins, since they don't run all over and find you free tire replacements and who would want to be held up that long anyway?
As for tire failure, I have opinions too, but ask most all why they had a blowout and they'll tell you that they're not sure, so might as well blame it on the tire manufacture. All tires are of quality or quality doesn't exist, since everyone on any forum has a different opinion of what's best and what is junk. It ranges from, I will run no other brand to...I wouldn't have them if they paid me.

The 295/75 almost surely has a lower weight carrying capacity than a 295/80. Don't change to the smaller size unless you are sure the tire can handle your axle GVWR.

You will also see a change in speedometer accuracy with eh 295/75. Probably off a couple mph at 60.
