I am under the impression that the way the valves in question were mounted is the standard method, thus making it easy to move the tire to a different position. Every shop I've done business with mounts duals that way unless asked to do it otherwise.
Maybe the inward facing valve is "right" for some applications, but it's a darn poor choice for motorhomes. We don't rotate tires and we don't swap them around to other vehicles, at least not often enough to warrant making it difficult to check pressure and add as needed.
