Tires

Afternoon.
I have a New to Me Fleetwood Discovery. Probably Donna put new tires all the way around. I've been told 6 years is about it on a set of tires. I've also been told that I'm looking at around $3800 for 6 tires "out the door" for Michelins. Any body have any wisdom for me?

I changed my Michelin XZA3 275/80 R22.5 at 8 years. I got a smoking deal from a Loves truck stop in Williams, AZ that were overstocked on steer tires that were dated one month old. They gave me $110 each for my old tires. Installed and out the door with balancing beads all 6 were just under $3000.
Hold out for a decent trade on your cores because they will sell them for use as trailer tires.

Buy Toyos or Hankooks or Sumitomos or Firestones or Goodrich and save a bunch of money. Still a major brand tire - not cheap stuff. Michelins are way overpriced, in my opinion. There is a Toyo plant near Atlanta, so you should be able to get excellent prices in your area.

And take your time shopping - 6 years is early. You can certainly get 7 years, and maybe a year or two more if you aren't too risk adverse.

Thanks. Good stuff. I've spoken with a class A owner that scared me a little. Said she had had a blow out and it really scared her. She said the magic number is 6 years. I will probably wait til spring

What Gary said. Michelins are very expensive for some reason...they don't seem to last any longer than any others. As noted, six years is a bit early, but you don't know how the previous owner treated his coach/tires. We had a RF blow out last year on seven year old G 670s. When in doubt, change them.
