When I first bought my coach, it needed tires badly..

My budget didn't allow me to drive from the sales office to the tire lot...

My thought was..

I have duel rear wheels, a blowout would suck, but I have another tire to get me to pull to the side of the road...I changed the fronts the following week after buying my rig...and I completed the rears in two seperate trips...

I knew I was driving on "older tires" so while I drove on them I took my time, never pushed the rig, and never ever hit the left lane...

Front tire blowouts can cause major $$$ damage...

Change the 8yr old fronts now...and do the rest in a timely manner...

I e mailed Michelin and ask them what was the max age to change tires. They said 10 years MAX or sooner depending on cracks, see their chart. My tires are 8 to 9 years old and had very small cracks on them at places -- not a problem. On our last trip to Myrtle Beach (150 miles) when we got there as I was covering the tires I noticed many larger cracks on one of the front tires, these showed up in 150 miles! I am a believer now and tires are on order. My lesson is its not worth it, don't push it. A blowout on a front is the worse thing that can happen to you and if you can manage it safely you still have the potential to do a lot of damage to your coach. Save money somewhere else not on tires.

I don't like the 'if one back blows, the other will get me to the side of the road' logic. If they are both old and one goes, the other will follow real fast. Maybe halfway to the side of the road. Also, I have read where a rear tire blowout has caused extensive damage to folks that have had them. What do you you have near your rear wheel wells? Any LP lines nearby?
