I purchased a toll tag to negotiate New York and Mas toll roads.
I have generally gone north from Dallas on my previous trips and have never got a tol bill but thinking of the future - Should I buy a TxTag for the coach and the toad. Am I likely to encounter toll roads or can I avoid them - absolutely no idea

Because we make the trek from MI-AZ every year, I bought a PikePass for OK. I have not been sorry. Not having to stop and pay the toll is sheer pleasure.

I went through MA, Penn, NY and avoided all tolls except one over the Hudson. Lot of work and effort to do that. Not sure I'd do it again but since I've seen the northeast not sure I want to go back

It's easy to get Easy Pass from Mass regardless where you live. Just Call 877-627-7745 to set up your account. There's no maint fee and the transponders are free. If you tow a vehicle, you will need two different Transponders, one for the extra axles on the towed vehicle and one for just the RV. Toll funds will have to be on deposit and replenished as needed with a credit card on file. A 3 day telephone notice is required when you switch Transponders. Hope this helps.

Simple answer to the question is you can almost always avoid the toll roads (if not the toll bridges). It just depends on how much trouble it is and if you want to get there going a bit further or faster and more expensive. It also depends on where you are going. I agree that an EZ Pass that works thoughout the whole North East is the easiest, as long as you are going to have the same vehicle with the same toad. It is not as easy if you are sometimes towing and sometimes not. It is really nice in NJ where they have at speed lanes and you don't even have to slow down to get charged.

Where exactly are you going? That would help in knowing how easy it would be to avoid the tolls.

You can avoid Texas toll roads, and the alternates roads will be pretty good.

Here in the Houston area there are several toll roads. They can all be avoided, and Interstate roads taken instead.

Ok I'll go with out toll

I think the alternative is to get one for the coach and one for the car then I'd pay twice while towing
They don't make it easy

I'll take the contrarian view. For Texas, if you plan to take I-35 through Austin, IMO it is well worth taking the 130 toll road from Georgetown to south of Austin, regardless of the cost. Going through Austin during the day is not worth the stress.

I agree with golden on that one.

Don't get a pass, Just drive through. They will just mail you the bill at the end of the month. I think it cost something like $1.50 extra because of that but I don't use it enough to justify the pass.
