Towing capacity???

Been looking at used rigs, but haven't figured this out yet...
Where exactly on the rig can you find what it's towing capacity is?
Thanks folks!

You don't say what make and model of your motor home or the GVWR is. These all would help to determine how much you could tow. along with the type and weight rating of the hitch.

Basically, it's the difference between the GCWR rating and the actual travel weight (including people) for the coach and as long as the hitch receiver itself complies with this figure.
This info can usually be found on the inside of a cabinet door somewhere inside the coach and if one was to assume, without weighing it, that their coach was near or at it's GVWR, then the towing capacity would be the difference between the two figures on the brochure or other.
One can't assume that the same brand coach, with a different chassis, has the same specs. either. For exp., if our rig was on a Ford chassis, the GCWR would be about a ton more in capacity and only because of the GM 4L80E transmission, as near as I can figure. Now, having said this, you never know it's back there, 99% of the time, but will present itself, if not careful, when pulling long 6% grades.
Hope this helps.

Best is to find the " Weight Sticker " unfortunately there is no standard location, for these stickers, they can be anywhere in the coach, back of a closet or cupboard, inside of a door.
The difference between the listed GVWR and the GCWR will be the towing capacity, if it's not listed separately as TTC ( Trailer Tow Capacity).
The actual hitch capacity my differ, from the TTC, so always look for that number; as the hitch capacity my be higher than the chassis TTC.

EDIT: When you find the sticker, look carefully for the CCC , ( Cargo Carrying Capacity) as many MHs are close to being overloaded from the factory.
1500 lbs. would be a bare minimum CCC, JMHO, 2500 lbs. and more is much better.

Usually inside a cabinet door there is a sticker that has the GVWR, GCWR, axle weight ratings, tow ratings, etc. Also on the hitch it will tell tow weights and tongue weights with and without a weight distributing hitch.

You have to do some calculation. Just because your hitch says 10,000 lbs, doesn't mean you can exceed your GCWR or your axle weight rating. You may need to hook everything up and head to the scales...
