TPMS and Equal balancing powder.

Has anyone used any of those balancing powders such as Equal with their TPMS. I'm about to put new tires on and was wanting to use it. I have the proper valve cores to use and all the stuff as we us it at work. Just wondering as I am going to change my own tires with the machine at work and don't really want to haul the tires somewhere to balance them if I don't have too. Jim

I wouldn't use any kind of balancing powder. Google Dyna Beads. You'll like what you find out. Dyna Beads are large ceramic beads. Work like a charm.

We are using Equal and have a TPMS ... have had no issues, but our TPMS is not a flow-through system. /ken

I have Equal with TST Systems TPMS, a mix of both flow through and non-flow through sensors.

No issues whatsoever.

I understand that you must have special valve cores to use the powder. Why fool with that when you can just use the beads?

there are special valve cores you need to use if you use powder.

That said.. I do not believe in powder or beads or liquids. I will not go into why.

Been running mine for 2 years with that combination. No problems, I did use the filtered valve cores. Only problem I ran into when installing the TST sensors was that I had to have extensions on the front wheels and had to turn my outside rear stems to point to the side instead of pointing in.

If I had to do it again, I would change front stems with a 1" longer one, I've since seen some on the internet. I did find short extensions at CW but not really short enough.

Also extensions was hard to find at local auto-parts stores as the only ones they carried was 60psi max.

Yes. No special valve cores. TPMS only for 1 year. Equal for 12 years.

It's works as long as you have the filtered valve cores to keep the equal from damaging the valve core & causing leakage! Don't ask me how I know!

I totally agree with Jim. I am on my 2nd MH and 3rd set of tires using equal with no problems. I also have a TPMS. When I was first introduced to Equal it was do to a balancing problem. The shop told me if I would let them install Equal properly, which included the special valve cores and being careful by not using an excess of lubrication that can cause the Equal to bunch up, they would refund my money if I was not happy with the product. My balancing problems are gone and I am a believer in Equal when installed properly.
