I believe your post is incorrect in that all the sensors for the 507 series have user-replaceable batteries regardless of sensor style. The older 510 series has the longer-lasting but not easily replaceable batteries.

We have the flow thru TST on the coach and cap on the toad. I had a couple of sensors at first that we're troublesome. TST has excellent customer service. I've had no leaks with the flow thru, they work correctly and are very accurate. I have an issue with my inner duals not reading. The valve extensions have been replaced with the best but to no avail. We are attending the IRV2 National rally and Mike from TST is coming to our coach to help our issue. Again great CS! I've purchased another competitors system and sold it for half price to another forum member. Highly recommend TST for attention to their customers and good quality products.

We have the TST TPMS NON flow through. We have had them now for almost a year with no problems whatsoever

I have the flow through sensors and needed extensions for the front wheels. I called TST and asked if they had a recommendation because sensors I had purchased at a truck stop did not allow the flow through to work. I was told to try Camping Word, they sell TST and the extensions Camping World sells should work. I was somewhat skeptical but did stop and buy extensions at Camping World and they do work - the sensors work as they should. I like these much better than the TST 510's I had before.

Cars use sensors inside the wheel (usually part of the valve stem mechanism), but I don't know of any like that for the MH, and you still wouldn't be able to monitor the toad.

First off the brand of TPMS that I own is called Tire SafeGuard. They offer any type of sensor that you want to use, Cap, Flow-Through, Internal Stem, Internal strap, etc.

Second, the flow-through sensors are more prone to leaks than the cap sensors based on actual usage which include plenty of posts and threads about this subject on iRV2.com.

This topic has been discussed here on iRV2.com to the cows come home so there is plenty to keep you busy for an entire weekend.

I have been using the Tire Safeguard flow through sensors for 90K miles on my coach. I originally had the permanent sealed units (you can't replace the batteries). Last year when the batteries were starting to go, instead of replacing the sensors, tire safeguard had me upgrade to the user replaceable battery style flow through sensors. I have never had an issue with them. Supposedly, the newer style batteries don't last as long, but the batteries are very easily replaced. The accuracy of the sensors is spot on with my digital tire gauge. Additionally I use high pressure flow through valve caps which make checking pressure fast and painless.

TST 507 with 10 flow-through sensors and no leaks. Two + years, no big probs, sensors accurate, excellent company.

Battery is a flat #1632, readily available, pretty cheap, easy and quick to replace. Projected sensor battery life one year, mine started to fade at about eighteen months. I've now replaced 7 of the ten. I would buy this system again without hesitation.

I bought the in tire sensors just like in every car today. They work great except that it requires a signal booster to pick up the rear axle all the time. My tire shop charged me $100 to install them. Batteries will last about 5-7 yrs.

Oops!! I erroneously stated that the TST no flow thru sensors had to be returned for battery replacement.

I had them confused with the TST510 which does not have user changeable batteries.

Mea Culpa. Just another senior moment.

It seems to me that the only way the cap type sensor could leak would be for it to crack or something on the inside. Otherwise, there's nowhere for the air to get out! JMHO

They all have a point of failure, be it the air valve itself, or the o-ring that seals the sensor on to the valvbe stem. It seems that both the flo-through and the cap type have advantages and disadvantages. The flow thru design makes adding air easy, though some say slower. The cap type, while it is removable, to prevent theft, requires a tool to remove the sensor.

Thank you everyone for your opinions. I guess I'm going to have to flip a coin. I truly am, undecided. If the cap type, were easily removable, without the tool, I would probably lean that direction. The fact that they aren't easily removable probably keeps someone from helping themselves to your sensors.

My Cap sensors are not locked on by choice and hence easily removable. They are installed the day before leaving once I have adjusted the cold psi set point for each set of tires. They will stay on until I have reached my final destination whereby I remove them to store in a box until the next journey or trip.

If someone were cheap enough to steal a sensor, they had better know what type of TPMS system that it works with otherwise they now have a useless device because it only works with one type of TPMS.

Most Cap sensors look similar but they MUST communicate with the master control otherwise they are totally useless.

I only know of one person who lost all four of his Pressure Pro sensors that were on his car one day when they were out to lunch with the car.

I guess it's the risk you take but after over 3 years of road travel over 36,000 miles I have yet to have anyone take one of mine. But when sitting for a long period of time they are tucked away to resist any temptation.

I have the TST 507 with flow thru sensors. If you can get a short enough valve stem so that they don't stick out too far they are great. Mine stick out too far and it worries me as I had one break when the kids hit it with the bike tire. TST was great about replacing it though. If you remove them when in winter storage the battery will last longer. Pressure makes them send a signal so when removed they go to sleep. Long valve stems: cap type. Short valve stems: flow thru type IMO.
Either way TST DOES have great customer service!
