For starters, Every tire filled with compressed air is 79% nitrogen. Being a medic, you know what the other 21% is. TPMS has been required in passenger cars since 2007. No, I haven't bought mine yet, but its on the list.

Anything else?

The 21% is the concern due to condensation and pressure changes with temperature. I guess 100% Nitrogen isn’t on your list?

I always ran nitrogen in my Harley tires, mostly to help maintain pressure on long trips. Never bothered with it for my other vehicles. Probably wear the tires out before you'll have to worry about rot from internal moisture.

Air is already mostly N, why worry about it??

The TT I bought in 2014 came with N filled tires, or so the decal said. They were still round, how can anyone tell the difference?
You asked a question, I was trying to put things in a reasonable perspective. Sorry.

IMH and annoying O
Unless you are on the racetrack where a pound or two is a big factor I think nitrogen is nothing more than a fad. Something to play with, which is fine if that is what you want to do. I do not see any real benefit in Nitrogen filled tires. Air filled vehicle tires have been around so long and traveled sooo many miles there is no way to question whether something better should replace them. Whatever moisture the small amount of oxygen adds dosent seem to make any difference.

So, are tires mounted in a vacuum or is there NA (natural air) in the tire before what ever compressed is added?
As far moisture, most commercial shops that have real air compressors also have moisture separators and their large tanks also allow moisture to settle. The nitrogen doesn't hurt a thing, but how much it helps isn't clear.

Ha Ha, Nitrogen is a fad! My old granddad use to call fads "fades"
He said eventually they all fade!
Happy Glamping.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

I consider a TPMS a necessity. I don't consider nitrogen-filled tires a necessity! Keep her between the ditches!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Happy New Year!

TPMS - Yes, most definitely.

Nitrogen filled tires - The 78% nitrogen in air is sufficient.

Take care,
Stu

I fill the interior of our coach with helium because it raises the effective GVWR. Yes, I do talk funny to the nice officer who stops us after floating above the pavement, but so what?
