distance between coach and trailer
just got a 24 v nose to pull. everyone said keep plenty of space. the receiver on coach is exactly even with back "bumper" puts ball about 8 inches out. the clear tongue on trailer is 23 inches. I went out and bought an 18 inch extension but it looks like may be too long. sticks out about 2 feet total.to ball. could not find anything in manuals

Be careful using a extension on your hitch with a heavy trailer. The extension can dramatically reduce the capacity of the hitch. The extension will multiply the amount of tongue weight applied to the hitch receiver. It might be wise to check with the hitch manufacturer to see what they say about extensions. They should be able to tell you how to calculate the hitch capacity reduction for the length of the extension you want to use.

I wouldn't use an extension either for a 24 foot trailer, to heavy. I did have the local welder add about 16 inches to my trailer hitch. Mine is not a V nose but with the extension I can make some tighter turns than before. Well worth the expense.

I would also be very careful with an extension, lots of stress on the hitch.

Personally, I think that's a good decision.

Here's my rig pulling a little 28' tag trailer. Best move we ever made for racing was buying the RV.
