Transfer Switch

on a03 ts what takes priority on the transfer switch the gen. or shore power if they are both on at thr same time thanks pk42

The transfers switch should take the power from the generator rather than from shore power.

Typically the generator take priority if shore and genny energized simultaneously.

Recommended practice is to not have large loads, such as air conditioning, active when the ATS changes over. Else contact arcing occurs, which over time may lead to ATS failure.

Agree with the others, generator has priority.

I would not do it on purpose

I was not thinking and cranked the gen without unplugging the unit. I maybe did that a couple of times, not sure. But the last time the solenoid hung up and would not switch back to land.
I had to locate the solenoid to start with which was not easy. Then pop it loose (with no power for safety reasons).
Has been working fine since.
