Transmission maintenance Triton 6.8 engine

Can anyone help a newbie with advice on transmission Maintenance?. Ive got a 2008 Fleetwood Bounder with a Triton 6.8 engine and 5-speed TorqShift SelectShift automatic transmission. I would like to change my own fliud/filters but have some questions (basic ones I'm sure). Like how do you get the external filter housing off? and if I use the correct fluid can I just drain the bulk of the fluid and forgo any remaining? and at 37000miles do I really need to drop the pan and get the internal filter out as well?
Any help is appreciated....

My 08 F-250 6.8 has two internal filters (flat waffer screen and screwed canister). I bought the kit from RockAuto for $36 I think. Dropping the pan is a good ideal anyways. Get 16qts and the OEM gasket is reusable.
If you have one external filter replace it and just draining the pan 'may' be ok.
