Mine usually runs between 148-170, depending on outside temperature, hills, etc.

On my F/L chassis , the 3060 Allison , only has a oil to water cooler, and engine coolant flows through the cooler, going back to the engine from the rad, on a long pull, trans temp will be within a few degrees of engine temps. In 3 years of driving , I've never seen trans temp above engine temp.

This summer in 90-95* outside temps my MH's engine water temp was solid at 199* and tranny fluid temp 203-208 when I chugged along at 60-62 MPH (approx 1750-1800 RPM). When I down geared for moderate climbs and ran at about 2000 RPM both drop about 10*.

My ISL runs around 200...degree to two either side. When crossing the Rockies, never went above 210.

Ours runs between 145 up to almost 180 if pulling a long hill in the Arizona heat. We have an Allison 3000 and a 3126B Caterpillar

My tranny (Alison 6 speed MD3000MH) runs just a touch higher than the engine temp. Here is a graph showing my temps for the last three hours of our 600 mile round trip last week. Read the temps on the left side scale and the RPMs on the right side scale. The road was flat, slight head wind, towing a 5000 lb boat, cruising at 57 MPH.

Wow. My engine temp never goes over 199. I think I'd freak out if I saw my transmission temp going that high. Glad to hear that's normal. I have the ISB Cummins with the Allison 3000. Guage readings are coming from my Scanguage.

I am running 145-175. I have a Banks IQ that shows my temp all the time.

Trans Temp

My 96 M0naco 5.9 Cum Allison 3050 runs 190-200deg most of the time. Have seen 205 west out of Denver on I-70 towing Suzuki Side Kick.

I had a transmission rebuilt in a 2001 Dodge one ton pick up and when talking to the mechanic he said a rule of thumb is automatic transmissions run about 80 to 90 degrees above outside temperature. Now I don't know if that rolls over to motorhomes but something to think about or ask a Allison mechanic.

My Allison 3000 runs around 170. But I just came through a couple mountain passes. At that time, it went as high as 210.

Cummins ISC and Allison 3000MH towing a Jeep Liberty runs between 190-202 at highway speeds. That's according to the digital temp readout on the dash. Engine temp is on a gauge so I don't know how they compare. The Allison manual says anything over 250F is over heating.
