Our boxer lays on the couch or in the floor.Confining your dog may do more harm in the event of danger. They are very resourceful and more agile that humans. They have excellent balance.

My guys are crated. It is safer for them and me. Take a look at the photo's that I posted in this thread. If your coach flipped, it's damage would not be a lot different than this. DOGS Travel trailer or truck?. I am afraid that no dog is agile enough to get out of the way of things crashing out of cabinets. Or for that matter the cabinets themselves.

Do you secure the kennels to the floor in some manner?

Thanks

We have talked about using kennels for our 2 boys, just haven't figured out how or where we will secure the kennels yet. When our slides are in the amount of useable floor space is limited.

Two of ours are in crates. The third is on the floor between the front seats. The crates are screwed to the wall. We use two HUGE crates that I also ty-wrap together. The "CAT" is in her own crate ty-wraped on top of the dog crates. The dinning room table and chairs are in the loft in the garage.

Ours are crated with the crates under the table and attached to the table which is attached to the wall.

I can't tell you how many accidents I've towed over the years that a loose animal left the scene of the accident via open door, broken window or what ever, when their scared after an accident they run and I bet most are never found again.

With our winters up here an escaped domestic animal does not stand a chance of survival.

Maybe a "local" animal may find it's way home but how many would be that lucky?

FWIW, A friend with 3 dogs (40-70 lbs each) crashed his new class C MH hard enough to total it. The dogs were un-restrained, and none got hurt.

I am actually more worried about our pooch getting blasted by the airbag when he's in the SUV.

Our boxer lays the floor up by us. Once in a while she will get up to see were we are and watch the road. And then back to work zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. The life of a dog.

I am afraid that this doesn't mean what it used to. My neighbor, backing out of her driveway, hit my car and the insurance company wanted to total it............

Sheila

PS~ I am glad that your friend's dogs were lucky enough to get out of it unharmed!!

The two chihuahuas get to do what they want. Couch, floor, wife's lap sometimes even the dash.

I have two very large dogs, half German Shepard and half Caucasian Shepherd.
The girl likes to ride between the front seats next to DW and the boy chills IN and ON the bottom bunk or as we call it, HIS dog house.
