Trick or Treat?

Question. We are at a camp ground, they are doing Trick or Treat tonight, the 25th. I went to the campground store and bought all their Tootsie Pops, but nobody is coming to our RV. This is our 1st Halloween on the road, in a campground. What is the protocol ??

Are there even any children around? Maybe if you had bought scotch for the older children you would have plenty of trick or treaters LOL

When, and what hours are set by the CG? Halloween is Friday Oct. 31.

Unless your porch light is on, children do not visit. That is normal here at home and on the road.

I'm guessing maybe there weren't many, if any, kids. Depends on the CG. We've been to a few CG TOT Halloween weekends & we sat in our camp-chairs in front of the site to hand out candy. Sometimes lots of kid, other times not so many.

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

25 or so kids, do you have to sit outside of your RV? Or are thy being polite and not bothering the outsiders?

In our MH park (not CG) we have to display an orange paper sign with a Jack-o-Lantern on it if we want the kids to come looking for treats. Our front entrance doesn't face the street so even if we do put up a sign we don't get many takers.

Protocol's vary, Decorations and the light on are two that will usually attract kids... Though one year my daughter and I spent 15-30 minutes decorating the porch and one teenage young lady would not approach our house cause it was, and I quote "Too Scary".

In the Halloween business, we call that SUCCESS!!!!!!!

I mean we did not spend a half hour or any large amount of cash, though I did do a few things that really caught on about a year later.. For example, I was the first on my street to feature "Spooky Sounds" (A cd running on a boom box in the living room, with the speakers on the porch under a couple of boxes artfully arranged).

Next year half the houses on the street had sounds.. but hey... I was trained in electronics .

Tootsie pops are one of my favorites, but I do miss the zagnut bars, the orange wax whistle things, pixie stix, the great big sweet tart ball that made your tongue bleed, the wax lips, the black and orange wrapped peanut butter taffy, chick-o-stix, slo-pokes and black cows, my oh my!

But the favorites had to be homemade goodies like popcorn balls and the real sticky green apple, or hot cinnamon suckers that our neighbors made from scratch. Pulled the fillings right out of your teeth! Nowadays, not many folks would let their kids eat homemade treats, oh how times change. Sigh.

I think it is great you offer trick-or-treaters goodies from your coach!

We decorated our coach with ghosts, pumpkins, black cats and lit pumpkins.....we had tons of kids stop by last night. Rayford Crossing had a GREAT event with a Chili cook-off, games and trick or treating (even had margarita machines for the adults).

Maybe the decorations helped....oh, and we did sit outside to greet the little ones.
