Personally I would never buy something I was afraid to use.

We bought our 2002 Monaco Windsor in 2008. I got laid off from my job in Mar 2009 and we made the trip to Alaska starting in June that year.
Overall the roads were not that bad provided you drove for the conditions. We did get a rock chip/crack in the front windshield driving from Denali to Fairbanks. Took it to a glass shop and they drilled a hole at the end of the crack and used a vacuum & epoxy to fill it. Got it fixed when we got home.
Worse damage we ever had was in 2013 when my wife side swiped a post while exiting a fueling station on a trip to NY. So things can happen anywhere.

I've watched a few youtube videos about traveling to Alaska and the roads looked ok to me, as long as you're willing to slow down where it's needed.

Ditto..... Remember you are trading money (cost of the motorhome) for memories.... The more comfortable your motorhome the better the memories.

Not a problem.. From Ohio to Deadhorse AK, The only damage we had was a broken headlight, and that happened in N. Dakota.
Slow down for oncoming vehicles, consider even stopping if its an 1 wheeler kicking up a lot of crap.

My brother (from Kentucky) in his 2007 Revolution and I (from Washington) in my 1996 Georgie Boy caravaned to Fairbanks/Anchorage/Homer in 2013. Not a problem. When the road gets rough (and it will in places) SLOW DOWN and enjoy the trip.

Northern VA to Homer AK and back. 1 broken windshield and lots of chips on the toad. The trip was two summers ago and I am still getting tar and bugs off of the motorhome and gravel out of the jeep!
Don't hesitate. The better the rig, the better it will stand up to the rigors of the journey. Buy what you want and go.

We had no problem, no damage at all. But watch out for those frost heaves, they can really get your attention As noted the only answer is to slow down.
You will also end up with dirt and dust in places you didn't even know you had, but nothing a thorough cleaning won't take care of.

Twice to AK--fiver--no problems with roads. Couple with us have 40' Winnie Tour, no road problems. As mentioned several times above--just have to be aware of the frost heaves so they don't surprise you at 50mph.

I would do it in a heart beat if I could swing the time.
