Troubleshooting question

Hello, I have an issue where my televisions in the bedroom and main salon have stopped working. I turned the inverter off for about 30 seconds and then back on, and the TVs work for a few minutes and turn off again. I flipped the circuit outside and the same thing, they work for a minute and turn off again. I changed the fuse for the TVs and this is still occurring. I'm running on 50 amps. All this started yesterday, today when I switch the inverter off and back on again, the TV's get no power what so ever.

Anyone have any idea what is going on and how I can fix it?

Does the TV work under normal shore power? If so the problem is with the inverter-could be overloaded?? Or weak batteries. Why are you changing fuses?

Just for a sanity check, plug in the tv to a extension cord and connect it from an outside source. Then you'll know that the tv didn't take some kind of a surge and be damaged.

I would check the breakers on the inverter first. You will either have 1 or 2.

Check to make sure none of your GFIC outlets are tripped.

If the breakers are good and no GFIC tripped it may be the inverter itself. Don't know your manufacturer or model but I have a Xantrex and the way it is wired the power comes from the main distribution panel, goes to the inverter and then to a separate smaller distribution panel that have all the circuits in it that the inverter controls. The inverter itself has a switching device that will either pass the power straight through or will invert off the batteries.

As with many newer computerized electronics a simple reboot may be all that is needed. It is free and worth a try.
Turn off the inverter and converter at the control panel. Then throw the house battery disconnect switch and wait about 30 seconds before turning it back on. Restart the inverter and converter and see if that made any difference.

What brand inverter do you have?

I'm working on a problem for a friend who has an Aims inverter. Her's has been replaced once already.

Maybe the inverter is going idle? Ensure there is enough of a load to pull the inverter out of idle and also keep it from going idle.

Is this something that used to work, and now does not? What's changed?

Thanks Selah, that did the trick. I think what may have happened is that the battery switch got accidently tripped. I turned it off, waited, then turned it back on and the TVs both work now. Thanks to everyone for your help! Much appreciated! Have a great holiday.
