Truck Stop high speed fuel pumps

I don’t really like to fill up at truck stops but I sometimes need to especially when traveling. Problem is, high speed pumps are too much for the fuel intake on the coach to handle causing the fuel pump to constantly stop. So... I have to stand there a longggg time, barely squeezeing the trigger allowing fuel to go in until full. Am I the only guy out there that doesn’t know the solution for this?

I don't have that problem but if i did I would stop using truck stops, We can usually get into many regular stations with a bit of pre planning.

Might check your tank vent. you should be able to fill at least 3/4 wide open. I always use truck stops, fresh fuel, and quick full up, and no worries about maneuvering in and out of station.

I can set the hi-speed nozzle on slow, and it works pretty good. It shuts off and I don't top off, since I can't get it to go slow enough to prevent burping. I prefer RV lanes with their regular nozzles. Google earth shows me if I can get in and out ok.

I have fillers on both sides. Fill from one side with the cap on the other loose. Have to be careful when tank gets close to full though.

Well, mine burps constantly because the fuel is going in too fast. As far as I know, there isn’t a way to turn the flow down at the pump or.... is there a way?

If we pull into the pumps needing a half tank of fuel I know we take about 50 gallons. I put the handle on high till hits around 40 gallons they use the first click to slow down flow for the last 10 gallons or so. If I leave on high it will burp and make a mess.

Check your tank vent hose... may have had a kink or a mud dauber got to it...

Check the angle of the hose between the cap and the tank. It might have a low spot that would account for the slow filling and premature shutoffs. I have seen where some added something to straighten out the slope of the hose allowing for a faster fill. It's an easy fix for a frustrating problem.

Filled at Sam's club today, only allowed me $75 at a time. So had to shut off and restart 3 times. Pumped at full speed [car nozzles] so took about 35 minutes. Could have done same thing at Loves Truck Stop in about 10 minutes, and checked tires with the supplied air hose, cleaned my big windshield and probably got fresher fuel as well. I have a 190 gal tank so think my coach was designed to take fuel at full speed just like most semi's do.

I avoid truck stops if possible. More expensive, often messy, have to walk inside, etc. Cant get the 5% cash back on my credit card unless swiped at the pump, making them even more expensive. We almost always can get in and out if a gas station somewhere. 40' coach towing.

As for the pump issue, I run on the slow setting at truck stops without issue.

Mostly use truck pumps and never had a problem with nozzle fully open and don't need to open other side to help vent.

Had the same problem in my pickup. Turned out to be the tank vent "vapor canister". It was clogged up due to the dust from the gravel road I live on. Not sure if diesels have one but tank vent system is likely your culprit.
