Two tow hitches?

Wondering why my Newmar has two 2" tow hitches on either side rather than one in the middle?

Any thoughts?

Might be a trailer I once saw that hitched to 2 balls on the tow vehicle and the trailer had swivel type wheels to allow cornering and unimpaired reversing.

My dynasty now has three The center is for towing a car, and I use all three when I put the motorcycle lift on and do not tow a car.

Do they make an adapter to center the ball so I can tow a toad.. Or do I have to have another one installed?

Well Speedjester,
If it were me, I'd leave the two there and, have a well qualified welder/shop make an adapter to your situation which would allow you to have a center one when normal towing or, just remove it and, you'd have the two there, for other purposes. Now if you NEVER plan on utilizing those two outside ones for a lift, m/c carrier or any other application where the two would be needed, well then maybe I'd opt to have those removed and, a strong hitch built in the class you'd need for your toad(s). Just a suggestion.

I'd be inclined to leave the two outside hitches, and put a standard hitch in the center.

I would think that making an adapter to bridge the existing ones would just add extra weight and length, add more slop in the connections, and introduce more failure points. Plus, installing and removing that large adapter is going to get old fast.

For my latest toad, I needed to add a drop adapter. That made the total hitch length enough that I had to make a new longer umbilical cable. It also introduced another point of slop between the drop adapter and the MH so that I can get some noticeable sway in the toad. I had to add some "anti-rattle" clamps to tighten up the connections: that got rid of the slop and sway, but now makes it more work to take the tow bar on and off.

Simpler is better, do it right.

I added two smaller receivers to my 03 coach to accept a Blue Ox motorcycle carrier. Then I made an extension for the standard 10,000# hitch already on the coach. I carried a full dresser on the carrier and towed our Avalanche too. It worked great.
