Unknown switch

I have a 2003 Class A Gulfstream Independence that we just bought and there is a switch on the dash that I don't know what it's for or how / when to use. It's a toggle switch with a battery on it. Can someone tell me about it? First RV.

You may need to include pics but it could be;

It might be the boost button that connects the house batteries to help start the engine if the chassis batteries are low.

It sounds like the battery connect switch to me as well. Try switching it and listen or have someone else listen for a clicking sound from the relay that it will operate to connect your chassis batteries to your house batteries.

You would use it if for some reason your chassis batteries were discharged. It will then use the house batteries to start your rig.

Welcome to iRV2.

Glad to have you join us here in the forums , hope we can help you figure this out.

An explanation of sorts ; for storage RVs have a coach battery disconnect switch , to prevent the coach battery from being run down by anything in the coach being left on. This is usually a toggle switch that controls a relay between the coach battery and the coaches fuse panel. Some RVs have a similar disconnect for the chassis batteries.
Most motorized RVs , with chassis and coach battery banks , will have a " boost or emergency start " switch to connect all the batteries together in case one set is bead and the other still has power. This is a momentary switch ; controlling a relay ; that must be held down to complete the connection while trying to start the engine or gen set.
Turn on some ceiling lights in the coach, and try that switch, with the battery icon, in both positions , if the lights go out , that's your coach battery disconnect or " salesman switch".
If the switch with the lightning bolt icon is a momentary switch , that should be the boost switch.
More info on RV electrical in this file , not all of the info will pertain to your coach.

Is it a momentary switch or on/off switch. Went you activate the switch, does it spring back when you let it go? If so, I agree. It is the battery boost switch.
