I had a valve stem extender from my inner tire break. In addition, my tire was bad indicating that I probably drove on it for a while and didn't know it. Good news was the rim was in perfect shape, so I guess I didn't drive on it too long.

My question for all is, this has never happened to me before. Is this common? Has anyone purchased extenders that do not screw on, but are the actual valve stem? On yourtireshopsupply.com They have extended the length of the inner dual valve to reach the outer dual. Anybody purchase these? Thanks for your reply.........Gary

I purchased a set of long valve stems from duallyvalve.com and love them. No more leaks from the screw on extendders or broken ones. Ad in rv marketrplace in Motorhome magazine.

I do have a TPMS, but that doesn't solve the need for a valve stem extender. For Klaus was this pretty easy for a truck tire place to install?

Solid tire valve stems come in different sizes. When we replaced our tires this summer, the company installed 4 inch long metal valve stems to our inside tires, so we don't need added extenders. you may want to check into this at a local truck tire facility.

I had dually valve stems installed at the Indio FMCA Rally last month. Rally special $130 installed. They used a kit that includes a rubber boot to support the inside valve.

Let me put it this way... Truckers typically check their tires every day, sometimes more than once.. Do likewise when traveling. (starting the day BEFORE you put the key in the ignition switch)

You're missing the point here. In fact when traveling, I check my tires constantly through my TPMS. But, checking your tires have nothing to do if your stem breaks in route. I am trying to solve that problem.

Gary, I had the same problem once - cost me a tire.
I went to the Crossfire system with stainless steel braided lines a couple years ago. It seems like a good quality system. I use one TPMS on each side. I am happy with it - makkes tire pressure maintenance easy. Several on IRV2 use it - check it out.

If you have the crossfire system it requires an option (STV) on the braided lines so you can place 1 TPMS sensor on each tire. It still requires two per dual. The check valve that stops the loss of air if 1 tire looses air won't allow the single TPMS mounted in the middle to show that you have lost pressure in just 1 tire. The tire that remains up will still show pressure to the TPMS sensor.

The Check valves are built in and will isolate the tires at a loss of about 10PSI - the TPMS sees the 10PSI drop and alerts you. Nothing extra is required to add a TPMS to the crossfire valve stem. There is a 'cat's eye system' that you may be thinking of - I recall researching it as well.
I'm on my 3rd year with the system and have been impressed by the quality - I'm not associated with the company.
P.S. I do have balancing beads in my tires - this was a question I had when I was looking.
The STV is only required if you want to use two TPMS to monitor each tire individually.
