Valve stem Shrader valve problem

I thought I was a bit of a motorhead since I was a teenager but I have run into something that has me puzzled. I have a valve stem on my front LH tire that has a bent Shrader valve center pin. When I check the tire air pressure the valve sticks open and air blasts out. My question is: do 22.5 tires use the same valve stem shrader valves as car tires or are they a different size? I have a 2005 Winnebago Adventurer with the WorkHorse chassis and 22.5 tires. I have been told by an RV dealer service Rep. that some Rvs use sand in the tire to balance the tires and they use Shrader valves with a screen built in them. Does anyone know what size, type shrader valve I need?

Yes your shrader valve is the same as in a car valve stem. Just use a valve stem wrench and change it out. Be prepared to top off tire air pressure afterward.

If you have balancing beads or powder inside the tire you should then have a special valve that does not get clogged with the balancing material.

Schrader car and rv valves are the same thread however the truck valves are a high pressure valve. Both kind can have filters. Most truck tire shop will have them.

If you have the Equal powder, the filtered valve cores will have the red band. The filter is at the bottom of the core.
