Can you recommend either a vent or vent-less model washer dryer combo or stack-able that fits a Thor Challenger 37GT?

Hi teegolfer,
If the coach has an opening already built (usually doubles as a closet), the opening will be for a combo or stackable washer/dryer. The sizes of these appliances have been industry standard for may years. For me, vented is the only way to go. As to a brand recommendation, the technology is a commodity. Consider purchasing the unit that has the features you need. I have a Splendide 2100. It has worked as advertised for 10 years. I would make the same purchase again.

I can't recommend a particular washer/dryer, but I would think a ventless dryer would dump a lot of moisture inside the motorhome. The water pulled out of clothes has to go somewhere.

Just my $0.02 worth.

I installed vented and love it although you do have to remove cloths out of unit as soon as they are done and shake them out to minimize wrinkles. splendide 2100. The ventless will add more water to your holding tank then ventedGreat service and no problems

Why would a vent less add more water to the holding tank?

Because ventless actually uses water to dry the the clothes. And that water then goes to the holding tank after use.

The ventless dryers pull the moisture out of the clothes and dump it into the holding tank. That's where the moisture goes.

They do not fill the air in the interior of the RV with moisture or condensation.

Their drawback is that they take longer to dry clothes than a vented unit. And, the moisture pulled out of the clothes fills up your holding tank faster, (a concern if you are boondocking).

Their benefit is that you don't need to cut a hole in the side of the motorhome wall.

To answer the OP, we were looking at the Splendid 7100 ventless washer/dryer combo in the 37GT. we are holding off for now to see how going without goes for a 6 month trip. I like the idea of not having to cut a hole in the sidewall to vent.

As a mechanical engineering technologist, I support the Keep It Simple approach. Collecting condensate to dump into your gray tank makes little sense in view of the amount of extra electricity it requires. It's just one more devices that can fail. This technology is far from proven. In other words, it hasn't been around long enough to rule out failures.

Venting to the outdoors is the most sensible approach. Cutting a hole for a vent would be far more favourable than replacing windows, ceilings and wall due to mold and mildew accumulation.

Just my $20 worth

The RV's that have a space for a W/D usually are already set-up for a vent to be cut in the wall for a vent.

I read on the splendide website that the ventless unit uses about 5 gallons more water to condense the moisture in the dry cycle. Then that is dumped into the holding tank.

We had a ventless washer in our Alpine, it wasted water caused a lot of moisture in motorhome and took forever to dry clothes. After using it a few times we found to be usless. Had it removed and storage put in the place. We are much happier now without it. The wife likes the laundromat better.
