Vinyl flooring replacement
We are looking for any experience you may have regarding types of vinyl floor replacement. We find ourselves with an immediate need to replace the vinyl floor in our MH. Those of you that have done that recently:
Did you use sheet (roll) linoleum or tile or planks?
Have you had any issues with your tile or plank style?
We discussed this briefly with the shop that will be doing the installation for us, and their recommendation is to go with the sheet linoleum. They believe that the tile or plank type may "come up" in any amount of heat. (We live on the desert) Our thought is if we go tile or plank, any damage can be replaced with one or two tiles rather than the entire floor.
Thanks in advance for your help

Personally I think the sheet vinyl will look cheap, but everyone doesn't think like me! Look at my post #75 in the thread below. It may give you some ideas!

I vote for tha interlocking vinyl planks. I have done a few units and have had great success with it. Good luck on your choice.

Did you glue it down, or is it floating?

I used a product from Lowes a floating plank system very easy to install. a few places required the glue on the edges. It has held up for a month now over many rough roads. The most difficult parts was removing a small portion of the old vinyl. It's great to get rid of the carpet. We put new carpet on the slide. I may do the bedroom next. If you use planks you can re-do a mistake if you do a sheet it might not be so easy.

We installed Sheetz vinyl in our previous coach. Looked great. Search my username for a post with details and pictures.

Interlocking vinyl planks? Are they thicker than regular vinyl?

They vary, the Shaw brand from Lowes was quite thin there are you tube videos on installation.

There's lots of post's and opinions on flooring, and all flooring is not created equal. On recommendation, I was going to use engineered hard wood, two manufactures recommended NOT to use there product in my temperatures, could see 100 deg or 10 below. A friend of mine found a engineered hard wood that the manufacturer said was going to be ok in a unheated cabin, I know ,you asked about vinyl. Ok, I just installed vinyl plank, and the same thing, Shaw and another one, can't remember, said Not to use there product in my environment. Long story short, you need to do your homework and contact the manufactures about there product. Also, plank and wood all look good, but you have to be careful not to scratch the floor with slides.
Good luck with your adventure, the only thing that holds true with what ever you do, is take your time and do it right the 1st time.
