Volt meter

I have a 2000 tradewinds, model 7373. Here is something that i notice is different. When i purchased the MH, it had a volt meter plugged into a plug on the inside. I noticed the red light on the meter always stayed on. It is now blinking and sometimes is off for a short time, however the meter is always where it is supposed to be" 120v and is always in the green area of the meter. Has something gone wrong?, or am i making something out of nothing? I am plugged into a 30 amp outlet now as i have always been while MH is not in use. The meter is a Radio Shack brand. I take it to my house and plug it in and the red light stays on all the time as it once did in the MH. Thanks, Duk

Maybe the volt meter has an internal battery that needs replaced.

I'm a little confused. Is this a meter that a previous owner had in the rig just to see what the AC line voltage was?

Post the brand & model # of the meter and someone here might be familiar with it.

The volt meter is a radio Shack AC volt meter. I would say it measures the input volts. The Catalog number is 22-107. But my big question still remains: Why dosent the red light on the volt meter stay on all the time as it once did. As i stated i brought the meter home, plugged it in and it stays red all the time as it once did in the MH. Even though the red light blinks the voltage hand still remains in the 120 volt range. It did the same thing on my last camping trip where i was plugged into 50 amp service.

An earlier suggestion was to check the battery in the meter. That's probably the problem and it's telling you about it.

I could not find the manual for it on the radio shack site, I would suggest you telephone them at their 800 class number and see if they can point you to it.

That will explain the function of the light.

There are no batteries in the volt meter. I went to radio shack and they did not have another one, however they said the meter does not have a battery in it. They tried to look it up and could not find a manual. It works fine when i bring it home and plug it in as the red light stays on all the time. It just blinks in the MH, but the voltage input is still in the 120 range where it is supposed to be. I was just wondering if maybe something has happened to the plug-in post wiring. Thanks, Duk

I know this will sound weird and crazy,,,,,,,but do you have any Florescent lights "on" in your MH? If yes, then turn them off, one at a time, and see if your red light stops blinking on the meter. See my recent post on what a bad florescent fixture do! Rook

I did find a photo of that meter on the net,, IT does not have a battery, it is a simple analog meter and is fully "line powered"

What I do not know about is the light.. I have no idea what the light is for, Nor could I see the light at the angle the photograph was taken from.

voltage meter

Could the lightt be a mini surge protector?I did have some small protectors long ago that had a red light indercator that would go out even tho they passed current. Also the different way it acts between the rv and house could be because of the way the nuetral and ground are allwaysseprated in the rv. Just a thought. Bill
