Wall Mounted Table Install Guidance Help

Hi,

I was hoping someone has a little expertise in wall mounting in an RV. I am helping a friend mount a table very close to this one in his 2008 Itasca Meridian (exterior wall non pop out). My question is what kind of fasteners should I use to secure it to the wall given that they are obviously thinner than conventional fasteners allow?

I read through all the stuff and watched the videos on this article RV Fastener Guide, but I am concerned about the weight of the table which is close to 15 lbs. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,

There are studs in the wall, are there not? Won't they be 2" X 2"? So, find a couple of them with a stud finder. Then add a couple Molly's where you can't grab a stud. Then, what did the manufacturer use to mount the dinette table? Match that. In my rig, the walls are filled with insulating sheets of foam. So it's a challenge to work a Molly screw in there and have it compress the foam out of the way so I try to be careful and get the hole just right and the screw nice and straight before I tighten it.

Your friends walls might be made differently then mine so...

When Winnebago mounts a table on the wall they put a steel plate in a routed section of the foam in the wall before it is laminated together. The mounting screws go into the steel.

I would not be comfortable trying to mount one using any type of fastener into the 1/8 inch (if that much) thick luan covering the foam in the wall.

Thanks for your thoughts everyone. I guess I need to do some research on the wall construction. I didnt realize there may be a steel plate there.
