I want to post this as a piece of information that may be relevant to your search for an used class A motorhome. I was absolutely stunned to learn that a MH I was interested in (by owner) has been listed at an consignment lot for $6500 less than what I was quoted by the owner.
The owner told me that if I didn't come and buy it he would take it to the lot as he didn't have time to be in a sales role. The timing wasn't good to drive 300 miles and then only have 24 hours to make a decision, so I didn't go look. I asked if he was at his lowest price and he was willing to come down about 2%. There wasn't any doubt the NADA and similars I could find made the MH overpriced. But, I thought there was an advantage buying from an owner who knew his coach well and could provide the service records.
Boy, am I glad I didn't go. The owner listed in Cragslist for $36,500. It just went on the consignment lot for $29.995. The CL gets 10% so that means the owner is going to receive about $10,000 less than what he priced it to me. I don't understand why he wouldn't have tried to "reel" me in with an split the difference offer. He would have netted more and I would have felt like I was getting a good deal. Maybe. I know sellers are proud but this seems like a little nose cutting.
