If I put a transmission lub pump on a 2010 Sebring to tow 4 down will that void the warranty? I know Remco says no but the dealer isn't so sure. Has anyone had dealings with Chrysler on a matter like this?

Remco just doesn't tell you something to sell a product, that is a bad assumption. The company is straightforward with their answers.

The answer, like most is not a simple yes or no. Does the lube pump void your warranty? No.

If you use the lube pump and your car's transmission fails after being towed, will Chrysler pay for the repairs if they think it was towing related? Nope. But your warranty is not voided, they just will not cover damage caused by using the vehicle outside its recommended usage as shown in the owners manual.

Chrysler will not warranty the lube pump or anything it effects. They did not design or install it, how could they.

When you modify a vehicle, you take the responsibility for what you have modified. you need to decide if that is the right choice for you.

Remco is an upstanding company, well designed products that work well. They still are not responsible for your transmission if it fails.

Actually its the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act. Trouble is, it only applies to REPLACEMENT parts, not modifications to allow operation outside the design intent of the manufacturer. That said, there is a big difference between voiding a warranty and declining to pay for a repair the manufacture believes you and your aftermarket modifications caused.

And another myth, in real life, they DO NOT have to prove it was the modifications that caused the failure. Only a reasonable causal relationship is required to deny a warranty claim. Of course you can still sue to try and recover losses, but it NEVER works for modified vehicles. Neither you nor the aftermarket company has the resources to take on the legal staff of an OEM car manufacturer.
