Washed the roof

It is very tight. I found a utube video that demonstrated removing a vent trim ring inside the coach and looking at the roof material inside the coach. It is actually wrapped around the edge of the roof and stapled inside the coach ceiling.

You can peel the material back to determine if it is EPDM or EPO material.

EPDM material is black on the back side while EPO is white.



You are correct as it is very tight. I can see the roof trusses/rafters under the roof membrane.

I can also see a couple of screws from the inside of the coach that are poking up into the membrane.

I have some Geoflex Proseal I purchased to seal some of the seams.

I don't know whether that would cause any problems or not. I would check to see if the roof felt smooth and clean or a little chalky. Chalky would indicate oxidation of the gel coat. Best thing to do it get a good marine grade wax or polymer coating meant for gel coats (it is difference than paint) and seal it up. I'll bet that takes care of your problem.

Yes you do, and just like mine it has a gel coat as a top layer. For the sides of your coach, they paint over that, so the 2 require slightly different treatment.

Previous to owning my Class A I had a Class C with a rubber roof. Manufacturer recommended using Spic & Span to clean and then treat with Armor All. Had the coach for 12 years and the roof was in great shape when I sold. It was never stored inside.

I use Spic & Span water and a brush (Long handled Van Wash brush, a Window Washer's brush would work as well) rinse with garden hose, No wax.. last thing I want is a super slippery roof,,, Fell off enough roofs when I was young, foolish and covered by Workman's comp if I fell.

Armor All? I've never heard of using that before on a rubber roof. But for those of you who haven't tried it...try a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Mop and a little dish washing liquid. It's done wonders for my 14yr. old rubber roof.

After washing the roof I was prepared to reseal around the vents and all seams.

Purchased three tubes of Geoflex Proseal. After reading the directions on the tube it clearly states "not recommended for EDPM / Rubber roofs".

Looks as if I purchased the wrong sealant.

Once a year so far. My problem is I can't (mentally) get up on the roof. After years of no fear of heights, I find that now that I'm in my sixties it terrifies me.
So I stand on a ladder (strangely I'm reasonably Ok with that) and use a long handled brush and Meguires car soap on the BriteTek roof. Not ideal but it got rid of a lot of dirt.

Based on someone's comment here, next time I'll try Murphys Oil Soap and see how that goes.

Your roof is most likely an EPDM rubber roof made by Dicor Products; they have been installed on many RV's. If you clean it make sure you do not use anything with petroleum distillates in it. I found this explanation helpful:

I use Dicor self leveling lap sealant, just can't use it on vertical surfaces. Attached is the care and maintenance instructions from Dicor that came with my 99 Dolphin.
That's the wrong attachment, it will work. The original that came with my Dolphin is a little different. I'll have to look for it.

Found the original Dicor instructions that came with my Dolphin. Notice it says you can use bleach to remove the black spots from the membrane.
