While opening the outside bins today I got the surprise of being stung by a wasp! After the dancing and yelling stopped! I sprayed all the latches with
wasp spray. I wondered how many of us has had that surprise?
If you haven't had the pleasure get some spray and use it, your fingers will thank you for it!

Thank you for your post I never thought about them building nests in the latches even though I know they build everywhere. In my case not just my fingers will appreciate your tip. I do a trip to the ER when i get stung.

When we first got our motorhome, we'd often see wasps flying around the bay doors. I studied their behavior for days because I just could not find the nest. I certainly didn't want to aimless spray at my new coach trying to kill one or two. After about a week of guessing where they keep going, removing water heater cover, refrigerator vent, open and closing doors, etc I saw one disappear under the latch. Never got stung but then remembered how many times I stuck my hand up in there to open the door. Had a good chuckle and thought I got off pretty easy....something's coming my way to pay me back I just know it.
Yes, also been there. Didn't get stung, but it was close. I felt the paper of the small nest just started and just missed the wasp that flew out when opening my electrical/water basement door.
I wasn't so lucky while pulling a bucket from under a table in my garden though. That was a big ouch!

When I was nine , my sister and I were taking a short cut through some woods to get home.
A yellow jacket wasp buzzed around her so I slapped at it and knocked it to the ground.
I then stomped on it to make sure it was dead. I learned something that day.
Yellow jackets do make their nests in the ground!!
We were both stung really bad all over but had no adverse effects.
The upside is I never been stung since.

Always keep baking soda in the frig. The minute you are stung make a paste with the baking soda and water and apply to sting....wasp, bee, yellow jacket....and instant relief! I have personally experienced the relief at least twice as well as witnessing it on three small children. Its best not to get stung but in case it happens, be prepared.
