Water flow problems, Please help.

I am very new owner of an RV. When I hook the hose up to my city water hook up on my 2001 coachmen aurora RV, I get water from all the faucets, at the same time water comes out of the overflow pipe by the gas tank. Why? I also have an issue with the water pump. When it is on I do not get any water from the freshwater tank. Why?

Just a guess, but you may want to check to see if you have a valve at the fresh water hook up that has a selection for filling your water tank. If so, and that valve is set to fill the tank, it may contribute to the issues you are seeing.

Waterpump could be defective. The diaphram that contains the check valves has probably failed. If so, it won't pump any water and it will allow water back through the pump when pressurized under city water and into the fresh water tank causing overflow.
