Water heater light

I have a 2006 Dutch Star with a 10 gallon Suburban duel electric/ propane water heater. It has been on shore power for several months and I have been using the electric only. I just noticed that the power indicator light has been on for the last couple of days non-stop. I have plenty of hot water, but the light usually goes on and off as needed, not all the time!

Should I be concerned?

Not positive but i would think that a power indicator light would stay on whenever the power switch was on. Would not think it cycled on and off with the thermostat.

As far as a problem, you'd know it with either scalding water/safety valve opening, or no hot water because something (thermostat, element) went bad. You're probably ok if water temperature is being correctly maintained.

It never goes off unless you turn the switch off. Now the indicator for propane lights up when it fires and shuts down when the flame goes out. Is that what your referring to?

Water heater

I did mean the electric light, not the propane light. Sounds like it is normal to stay on all the time. Maybe I did not notice it before!

Just a 'visual' indicator electric is ON

Propane....light comes on when you first turn switch ON then will stay on if main flame fails to light/prove. Goes out when flame stays on.
