We won a CW drawing!

We won 20 nights at Ghost Mountain Ranch and RV Resort in Pollock Pines. CA!
(And an Android tablet) Have to listen to their membership pitch but that seems harmless enough. We're going next Sat, just for the registration and presentation; it's about 5 hours from home but near the kids/grand kids and someplace they can join us.

won cw drawing

It will be a high pressure sales pitch. Tell them you are unemployed and have bad credit. You can't take out a loan that is why you have a seven yr. old RV. Walk out if you feel pressured.

Don and Mary: too many abbreviations, not familiar with them!
Don't worry, we've sat through a lot of these sales pitches, not afraid to say no
Hard to argue with 20 free nights however...will send pix!

My wife and I recently "won" the same drawing, including the $100 in gas, the tablet and the $1000 in free camping (20 nights at Ghost Mountain).

You will have to sit through a sales pitch and most likely tour the park (plan on about 2 hours in total). They will give you a time when you check in to show up. It isn't really all that high pressure, if you indicate from the start you aren't interested they don't really push. Don't do it if it's just for the stuff. The tablet is junk and the $100 in gas is a joke as you will get $20 back on 5 separate fuel purchases from a shell station. Additionally each one has to be dated 30 days or more from the last, but you only have 150 days from the day it's dated to redeem it.

A couple of things about the park. Try to arrive before dark! I arrived late due to heavy traffic/construction on highway 50 and the road leading into the park is downright scary at night! The pool is great, the "saloon" over on the old tv set is very nice but aside from that there really isn't all that much to do there honestly. It is a new CRA property and it is apparent that they are trying to make improvements but at the moment there really isn't a lot to do there. My wife and I went for our anniversary and had a decent time. All sites have 30A and water, however many of the sites are close together, some are small and literally right next to the road as well. We had a nice site tho with a great wooded view.

In the end the road leading in as well as the tight area at the dump station for an RV of our size (38feet) were the main reasons why we probably will not return for at least a few years.

If you can endure the sales pitch, go and have a great time.

You don't think you really "won" do you?

RClifton...great reply, thanks for taking the time to do that. I should have known about the gas coupons, it happened before and I think I just gave up on doing them. We are getting there during daylight and will not be in the rig, so that part will be easier. Ok, I won't look forward to the tablet!

Dog Folks and MS Campers:you mean we didn't really "win"?! We weren't the chosen few??! Darn
But yes we will go for the ride and enjoy ourselves..

Oh yeah , been there done that. Ghost Mtn. is dirt camping with a pool. As stated, arrive in daylight, you won't like the road in at dark. CRA bought that failing campground ,dolled it up a bit and are trying to get more " investors" from the northern area that probably not go to the river down south for their " presentation " . We said no and we're promptly smugged and escorted out of the office. High pressure marketing at its best. Yet we get the " you have won" package in the mail every six months or so.

Funny, avatar pic is from there!!!! Haha!

If you choose it for your avatar, it can't be that bad!

There is always a catch to you won something that you never entered for. I liked RClifton report on the real win. Enjoy the "free" stay and the nice part about an RV, if you don't like it you can move the next day.

Enjoyed our salesperson and enjoyed our stay. Bought the membership with eyes wide open. Been back twice and have made friends with all the employees...love them. Look forward to many years of campsite stays. The road is narrow at times but I'm not a wuss so it was fine

Glad it worked out for you. I had a friend that bought a timeshare and ended up loving it. Sold it after about 15 years and made a small profit. Enjoy your camping!
