Weak fingers, need a better door handle

I am 81 years old with osteo-arthritis. Got a 2014 Georgetown with an entry door handle from hell. To close the door you insert your finger tips under a slightly curved flat bracket - either with a backhand movement with the right hand or a do a 180 on the very narrow door step and try the left hand. When exiting and the wind is from the rear I simply cannot hold the door with either hand. Surely there is a simple fix out there. This is my 5th RV and my others always had a real handle to grab. (Didn't always go the direction one would expect, but a handle nonetheless.)

You may be able to order and change lock assembly to the older style with the handle. Find a good RVing buddy that has the old style and see if he will let you try it on for size!

I would think that you could make a lever out of a piece of wood that would do the trick. Curved on the end, get under the latch, should give you the leverage you need.

It seems the most reasonable solution is a different lock assembly. Certainly not the most economical, but probably the most practical. I have found one at PPL that will solve the problem. Makes one wonder why the other style is so popular. Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
