Weather Pro Power Awning Not Working

Our weatherPro power awning has just stopped retracting or extending. Power light is on at Control Panel and I can hear the motor ( I think) clicking up on the awning itself. I am thinking of going up on a ladder and trying to roll it out so that I can access the wiring harness in one of the arms. I will probably need someone to hold the switch down to release it. Not sure.

Any ideas out there would be appreciated.

Hi needlenoses,
If you can hear the motor, the set screw from the motor shaft to the awning roller shaft has come loose. This may be a simple repair. If the motor does not try, check the fuse for the awning.

On my awning, it retracts after it fully opens when you hold the extend button on until ut goes into auto open. When it reaches fully open, it retracts. I can open the awning if I open the awning a little at a time until I reach fully open. Any suggestions on what to look for to fix this?

Ok; managed to get the awning out far enough to hook up the aux power harness which I hooked to an outside battery. Same thing, motor does not turn, just clicks ( both directions ). I called up Dometic today and got a price. $394.04. Not installed of course. Maybe I will roll it back up and tack-weld it closed for good.

Take the motor to a Motor Repair Shop. Most motors can be repaired or rewound for a fraction of replacement costs.

I thought of that, thanks. Concerned about taking the motor out myself without losing fingers, and having the awning hanging up there with the one end of the tube missing. Not having done this before is the issue. Would be better to do it when we get back home in April rather than in a campground.
