Wedgewood bifold stove top won't stay up

My bifold top for the stove won't stay up. I have to put it against the back wall when I turn on the burners. It use to stay up and when I was done cooking, I had to lift it slightly and then put it down...won't stay up. Any help would be great.

I am a little confused. You say you have to lift it up to close it. That is the way the lock works. If you have to lift it to get it to close, t sounds as if the hold open lock is working.

Not sure what the "hold open lock" is.

Sorry Bees, I misread your post. You said you use to lift the lid to let it down. When I read your post I thought you still did. It sounds like the pin that holds the hinge verticle is missing. You can lift the front of the stove top about ten inches. pull the stove top toward you and remove the stove top. You will now be able to see the hinge of the stove cover. You will find that the stove cover has a c shaped cutout in the hinge. This is for a pin to slide into to hold up the cover. The pin is probably pulled out. you can replace it with a small screw and jamnut.
