Weird tire date

This is really confusing me....
2001 (New to me) Damon motorhome ....
DOT 5374 branded on tire wall 245x70x19.5
???????

Cannot imagine tires dated to 1974 ????

1. Prior to 2000 they are supposed to have a three number date code????
2. If earlier than 1990 should have identifying mark of <> a diaqmond or some other mark ????

Any ideas on the age of these tires?????

Look on the inside of the tire. The date code is after the four digit DOT code

I believe 5374 identifies the factory where the tires were manufactured. Look for an additional 4 digit code.

The date code is the LAST digits on the line that begins with DOT

To summarise the answers here given .
The 4 digit code at the end after DOT so DOTxxxx/yyyy/uuuu/wwjj is only written on one sidewall of the tire.
so try to find that on the sidewall thats on the innerside of the vehicle, so you have to get uder the vehicle to spot it.
You can also look at an other tire, mayby that is mounted on the rimm the way that you can read it from the outside, and then asume that the tires are mounted at the same time so have the same production time.

NOt on topic but I love your signature line. I have been to Alaska twice and loved it. I looked at the Alaska. Gov webpage and found out you can workcamp at Alaska campsites. I do not think we can do it this year but next year the wife and I might try to do that. I would love to spend a summer in Alaska.
