In 10 years of RV,ing we have seen theft of items 3 times. In all 3 cases we were parked with a large group of RV's and things were stolen that were out in the open or in unlocked bins. In happened in the middle of the night also. I believe most encounters with the criminal element comes from "tweekers" trying for a quick score and they don't want confrontation. I haven't heard of a single encounter with anyone who was armed. That is just my experience.

I believe that the mere sound of a 12 gauge being "racked" will scare most miscreants away.

We actually fell far more secure in the MH than at home, even though we have a very sophisticated security system at home! It's like someone said, in the MH there's only one door, with two locks, and no one's gonna get in there without us hearing them. I did add a small self-contained door alarm, mainly to shake up an intruder who opens the door when we are away!

We are also well-prepared to deal with an intruder if they choose to come in the door!

I agree with Ranger Smith. I do not have any hand guns, but I do carry a shot gun. You never know.

It is best to have some kind of protection then none at all.

If you suspect someone/something snooping around at night, lay on the horn. It may wake the neighbors but they have the best chance of seeing your culprit.
