What do you think of the newer Thor Gassers?

I am shopping and I have had 2 or 3 people recommend that I look at the 2017/2018 Thor Class A gas coach.

I am curious what you all think of them?

We were really NOT impressed. But what really matters is the character of the dealer and whether they will REALLY stand with you after the sale.

What was it about the Thor that did not impress you?

I recommend you check out other makes like Tiffin and Newmar, I think you will figure it out.

Thor makes gassers between ~65k and ~140k

Which is quite a range,

I have had a good experience so far. Not that that should tell you too much, it is a single data point.

It seems you have been here long enough to know that you will be told to buy Tiffin or Newmar, or an old DP, and if you dont, your beyond help.

Can't comment to the class A's, but so far we haven't had any real issues with our 32 foot Quantum and only have a few minor issues to be addressed later. We are planning to take it back to the factory for anything that can wait until November.

I have the Thor ACE. All in all we like it, but the quality control at Thor is lacking. I will say that the problems have been fairly minor and once fixed right has stayed fixed. The customer service at Thor has been very good.

After doing an extensive search, we decided on a 2016 Thor Hurricane last April. It had a few very minor issues that the dealer and Thor both worked together and quickly fixed. All in all we find it to be a great value for the money and Thor has been very good to work with.

From my sig you may infer that I would recommend that you buy an older DP for the same price point. However, your tastes, wants, and needs are probably vastly different, so don't let us Newmar and SOB coach owners sway you. What I can tell you is that Thor is selling a lot of ACE's, etc and I see many now at campgrounds. They must be doing something right, hopefully not just marketing and the "easy payment plan." Just go into this with the knowledge that quality control of manufacture and materials on a new $100k coach will not compare with that of, say, a $500k new Newmar Dutch Star. If buying a MH was a purely logical process, we would all be driving the same model. Or married to the same woman.

Not many have commented on the larger Thor gassers. We are happy with ours. Thor seems to make the best floorplans, for us anyway.

As I have learned, a lot depends on the dealer. If they are good, pay attention to the little details and treat you with respect, then you have a winner.

We looked at Thor and Winnebago at the same dealer. The Thor had an identical floor plan to the Winnebago, but the overall feel wasn't as good. The Thor was about 4K less, but we liked the Winnie better overall.

Good luck with your decision!

Same thing for us. We really like the Winnie/Itasca 37F floorplan. We'll probably wait for the Hershey show in September to make a final decision. It's easy to test drive them now tho...
